Letter of Recommendation Re: Quenia Ribeiro

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter or recommendation in support of Quenia Ribeiro’s many years of masterful teaching artistry with people of all ages and backgrounds.

I have known Quenia and her company Grupo Ribeiro for three years in my capacity as Community Programs Manager at Turtle Bay Music School where I oversee the Community Programs department. For the past decade, Quenia has been a faculty member for TBMS, and her company Grupo Ribeiro have been a cornerstone of our cultural music and creative movement education offerings for people of all ages.

Quenia has led Brazilian Dance and Percussion residencies in over seven public schools and has worked with children from Pre-K to fifth grade. She has also been a core member of our Creative Aging programming, where she has adapted dance workshops for two of our senior center partners, first for Visions, an organization for people experiencing blindness/ vision impairment and more recently or Renewalcare’s Beginnings program, a group designed for people with Alzheimer’s and dementia. In every instance, she arrives for class prepared and leaves beloved.

She has also led workshops and performances in every conceivable context, from galas, to street fairs, to parent education, and her work shines through it all. Quenia is not only a seasoned dancer and choreographer, but a masterful teacher, and an instigator of joy and improbable community every she goes; her work is at the very heart the lifeblood of our school. Quenia has several attributes that make her stand out. She is a vibrant, rigorous teacher who leads with a beautiful mix of high artistic and educational standards and genuine compassion and kindness.

It’s also important to mention that Quenia’s company, Grupo Ribeiro are also a key part to the success of our partnership. The musicians and dancers she recruits for our collaborations are consistently superlative and TBMS is lucky to be connected to so many incredible artists and educators through Quenia. Her standards as a leader are high, and we benefit constantly from Quenia’s work as a connector in her community.

In conclusion, I cannot sing high enough praise for the wonder that is Quenia Ribeiro. She is a gift to New York City. Her contributions to the cultural vibrancy of our school and our city cannot be overstated. Her incredible teaching skill and whole-hearted investment in our school is any indication of her deservingness of every accolade and opportunity.

If you should need any additional information, I am most easily reached by email at sgrosman@tbms.org.

Warmly,
