Maculele ( rhythm Congo and Barravento)
A warrior dance from the Sugar Cane fields of Brazil. Sometimes performed with machetes, often performed with sticks. Two dancers face off , as they dance they strike their sticks together in time to the music.
Maculele has Bantu roots, and like capoeira is a form of defense, disguised as a dance.Maculele is performed on 3 or more drums (Atabaques) and a bell.
The two types of rhythms used for this function are called Congo and Barravento.
